Creating Solo Performance Material through Improvisation

Experiment with improvisation as a means to create solo performance. Participants will discuss ideas with the group and then be prompted with different improv exercises that can be crafted into show material. Whether you're looking for a way to begin writing the solo show you've always wanted to do, or are looking for an opportunity to delve deeper into work previously written, this workshop will give you the tools to express your unique point of view.
Carla has written and performed four solo shows that toured L.A.'s theater circuit. Her most recent work, Sweatlodged, had a sold-out run in Los Angeles in and was a selection of the 2013 United Solo Fest in New York. Carla has directed solo shows at iO West, Comedy Central Stage, Hollywood Fringe Festival, UCBLA, and Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (2013). She teaches improvisation at The Second City Hollywood and is a member of The Solo Collective, a group of five unique solo performance artists based in Los Angeles.
Prerequisite: Brody Theater Level 1 or beyond, or at least one multi-week improv class experience at another theater or school. (if you have not taken a Brody class please contact us for permission before enrolling)
Fee: $35.00 ($20 for Brody Ensemble members)
